I spent a wonderful time in the area of Canzo - north of Milano about an hours drive direction the Swiss birder and lago di Como. Although only in springtime we had the opportunity to do a serious mountain trail to the peaks of I due Corni which has a lovely bilogical rifugio at its base. After a few hours of tracking uphill the rewarding hospitality and fresh made foods and beverages- I will eternally remember the Limoncello among many other things- the road took us even higher. When sometimes overheated by the sunrays on the warmer side of the mountainrange me and Michele- my friend and host- took pauses for a few minutes when heading upwards by the Via Ferrata. Indicating obviously the intensity with one should be able to carefully climb the steep paths and the power one needs in his or her calfs!
When we reached the top at a few hundred meters away from the peaks, colder winds blowing from the Alps came into our sweating faces like hurricanes and we had to dress for an entirely different descent through pinewoods and snow! Drinking melted snow or a little further down the road from a tab offering fresh mountain waters we quenches our thirsts.
A few miles further downwards after snow and cold winds having departed and green pastures made way for the forrestial surroundings we met an artist sculpting giant staues of a fairy like nature from massive trees.
Che belle foto! Che bel paese! Che bel posto per passare le vacanze!
